A group of his people who disbelieved him and had called the Day of Judgment a lie and whom We had made prosperous in this life, said, "He is a mere mortal like you. He eats and drinks as you do. 33 So if you follow a man like yourself you will certainly be doomed. 34 Does he promise you that when you die and have become dust and bones, that you will be brought forth again? 35 ۞ Such a promise will never come true. 36 There is naught but our life of the world; we die and we live, and we shall not be raised (again). 37 “He is just a man who has fabricated a lie against Allah, and we are not going to believe him.” 38 (The apostle prayed): "O Lord, deliver me, for they accuse me of lies." 39 [And God] would say: "After a little while they will surely be smitten with remorse!" 40 Then a mighty blast quite justly overtook them, and We reduced them to a rubble. So away with the wrong-doing folk! 41 Then We raised up other generations after them, 42 no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 43 Thereafter We sent Our apostles, successively. So oft as there came unto a community their apostle, they belied him, so We made them follow one another, and We made them bywords; so away with a people who believe not! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our tokens and a clear warrant 45 To Fir'aun (Pharaoh) and his chiefs, but they behaved insolently and they were people self-exalting (by disobeying their Lord, and exalting themselves over and above the Messenger of Allah). 46 They said: "Shall we believe in two men like ourselves? And their people are subject to us!" 47 Thus, they gave the lie to those two, and earned (thereby) their place among the doomed: 48 And We gave the Book to Moses so that they may be guided. 49 And We made Mary's son, and his mother, a Sign, and We gave them refuge on a lofty ground, a peaceful site with springs flowing in it. 50
