And [every time] the great ones among his people, who refused to acknowledge the truth and gave the lie to the announcement of a life to come - [simply] because We had granted them ease and plenty in [their] worldly life, and they had become corrupted by it [every time] they would say: "This [man] is nothing hut a mortal like yourselves, eating of what you eat, and drinking of what you drink: 33 and, indeed, if you pay heed to a mortal like yourselves, you will surely be the losers! 34 Does he promise you that when you are dead and are reduced to dust and bones, you will be brought forth to life? 35 ۞ Far-fetched, utterly far-fetched is what you are being promised. 36 Life is not but our worldly life - we die and live, but we will not be resurrected. 37 "He is only a man who has invented a lie against Allah, but we are not going to believe in him." 38 He said: my Lord! vindicate for they belie me. 39 [Allah] said, "After a little, they will surely become regretful." 40 The blast justly struck them and We reduced them to rubble. Away with such wicked people! 41 Then, after them, We created other generations. 42 No nation can outstrip its term, nor can it put it back. 43 Then sent We our messengers in succession: every time there came to a people their messenger, they accused him of falsehood: so We made them follow each other (in punishment): We made them as a tale (that is told): So away with a people that will not believe! 44 We then sent Moosa and his brother Haroon, with Our signs and a clear proof. 45 Unto Pharaoh and his chiefs, but they scorned (them) and they were despotic folk. 46 They said, "Should we believe two men like ourselves while their people are for us in servitude?" 47 Then they belied the twain; so they became of those who were destroyed. 48 And We verily gave Moses the Scripture, that haply they might go aright. 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and gave them shelter on a peaceful hillside watered by a fresh spring. 50
