'O Messengers, eat of the good things and do righteousness; surely I know the things you do. 51 Your religion is one and I am your Lord. Have fear of Me". 52 But the people divided their religion among them into sects - each faction, in what it has, rejoicing. 53 Leave them in their perplexity for a time. 54 Do they imagine that the wealth and children We have provided 55 Is [because] We hasten for them good things? Rather, they do not perceive. 56 Verily those who for fear of their Lord are in awe. 57 Who believe in their Lord's revelations, 58 And those who ascribe not partners unto their Lord, 59 and those who give to others what has been bestowed upon them with their hearts trembling at the thought that they must return to their Lord; 60 those, hasten in good works, outracing to them. 61 And We charge no soul except [with that within] its capacity, and with Us is a record which speaks with truth; and they will not be wronged. 62 But their hearts are covered with confusion over this, and they have [evil] deeds besides disbelief which they are doing, 63 Until, when We seize in Punishment those of them who received the good things of this world, behold, they will groan in supplication! 64 We shall tell them, "Do not cry for help on this day; you will receive none from Us". 65 Indeed My Verses used to be recited to you, but you used to turn back on your heels (denying them, and with hatred to listen to them). 66 In pride (they Quraish pagans and polytheists of Makkah used to feel proud that they are the dwellers of Makkah sanctuary Haram), talking evil about it (the Quran) by night. 67 Should they not think upon the saying? Or, did anything come upon them that had not come upon their ancient forefathers? 68 Or is it that they have not recognized their Apostle, so that they deny him? 69 Or do they say: There is madness in him? Nay! he has brought them the truth, and most of them are averse from the truth. 70 And had the Truth followed their desires, then indeed the heavens and the earth and all those who are in them would be destroyed; in fact We brought to them a thing in which lay their repute, so they are turned away from their own repute. 71 Or are you asking them for any reward? But the reward of your Lord is the best, for He is the Best of Providers, 72 Indeed you are calling them to a Straight Path, 73 And verily those who believe not in the Hereafter are deviating from that Way. 74 ۞ And even were We to show them mercy and remove whatever distress might befall them [in this life,] they would still persist in their overweening arrogance, blindly stumbling to and fro. 75 And indeed, We tested them through suffering, but they did not abase themselves before their Sustainer; and they will never humble themselves 76 Until We open on them a gate leading to a severe Punishment: then Lo! they will be plunged in despair therein! 77
