O you apostles, eat things that are clean, and do things that are good. We are surely cognisant of what you do. 51 And surely this your religion is one religion and I am your Lord, therefore be careful (of your duty) to Me. 52 The people divided themselves into many sects, each with their own book and each happy with whatever they had. 53 So leave them in their bewilderment for a while. 54 What, do they think that We succour them with of wealth and children, 55 We are hastening to reward them for good deeds? No. They do not comprehend. 56 Indeed, they who are apprehensive from fear of their Lord 57 And those who believe in the signs of their Lord – 58 who consider nothing equal to their Lord, 59 And those who give that (their charity) which they give (and also do other good deeds) with their hearts full of fear (whether their alms and charities, etc., have been accepted or not), because they are sure to return to their Lord (for reckoning). 60 Are the ones who hasten to goodness and outpace the others. 61 And We do not burden any soul beyond its capacity, and with Us is a Book* that speaks the truth, and they will not be wronged. (* The preserved tablet or the record of one’s deeds.) 62 But their hearts are covered with confusion over this, and they have [evil] deeds besides disbelief which they are doing, 63 But when We will strike with torment those (unbelievers) who are rich, they will start to cry for help. 64 (It will be said): "Groan not in supplication this day: for ye shall certainly not be helped by Us. 65 Surely My signs have been rehearsed unto you, and upon your heel ye were wont to draw back. 66 waxing proud against it, talking foolish talk by night.' 67 Have they not pondered over the Word (of Allah, i.e. what is sent down to the Prophet SAW), or has there come to them what had not come to their fathers of old? 68 Or know they not their messenger, and so reject him? 69 Or do they say that he is possessed? In fact, he has brought the truth to them, but most of them abhor the truth. 70 But if the Truth had followed their inclinations, the heavens and the earth and whoever is in them would have been ruined. Rather, We have brought them their message, but they, from their message, are turning away. 71 Or dost thou [O Muhammad] ask of them any worldly recompense? But [they ought to know that] recompense from thy Sustainer is best, since He is the best of providers! 72 (Muhammad), you certainly have called them to the right path, 73 But indeed, those who do not believe in the Hereafter are deviating from the path. 74 ۞ And though We had mercy on them and removed the distress which is on them, still they would obstinately persist in their transgression, wandering blindly. 75 We had seized them with the punishment, but they did not bow before their Lord nor turned to Him in humility, 76 when We opened on them a gate of severe punishment, they utterly despaired. 77
