Have you not seen how your Lord spread the shadow. If He willed, He could have made it still then We have made the sun its guide [i.e. after the sunrise, it (the shadow) squeezes and vanishes at midnoon and then again appears in the afternoon with the decline of the sun, and had there been no sun light, there would have been no shadow]. 45 Then We withdraw it unto Us, a gradual withdrawal? 46 And He it is Who maketh night a covering for you, and sleep repose, and maketh day a resurrection. 47 And it is He who sends the winds as good tidings before His mercy, and We send down from the sky pure water 48 so that He may revive the dead land, and quench the thirst of many of His creatures from among beasts and men. 49 We have explained it to them in diverse ways, so that they may take heed, but most persist in their ingratitude. 50 Had it been Our will, We could have raised a warner in every village. 51 Therefore listen not to the Unbelievers, but strive against them with the utmost strenuousness, with the (Qur'an). 52 ۞ AND HE it is who has given freedom of movement to the two great bodies of water - the one sweet and thirst-allaying, and the other salty and bitter - and yet has wrought between them a barrier and a forbidding ban. 53 And He it is who out of this [very] water has created man, and has endowed him with [the consciousness of] descent and marriage-tie: for thy Sustainer is ever infinite in His power. 54 And yet they worship besides God what cannot bring them gain or do them harm. The unbeliever has always been an auxiliary against his Lord. 55 We have sent thee not, except good tidings to bear, and warning. 56 Say: I ask of you no reward for this, save that whoso will may choose a way unto his Lord. 57 And trust thou in the Living One who dieth not, and hallow His praise; it sufficeth that He of the sins of His bondmen is Aware. 58 He who created the heavens and the earth and what is between them in six days and then established Himself above the Throne - the Most Merciful, so ask about Him one well informed. 59 Yet when they [who are bent on denying the truth are told, "Prostrate yourselves before the Most Gracious" they are wont to ask, "And [who and] what is the Most Gracious? Are we to prostrate ourselves before whatever thou biddest us [to worship]?" - and so [thy call] but increases their aversion, ۩ 60
