Have you not seen how your Lord lengthens the shadows? Had He pleased, He could have made them constant; then We placed the sun as an indicator for them, 45 thereafter We seize it to Ourselves, drawing it gently. 46 And it is He who has made the night for you as clothing and sleep [a means for] rest and has made the day a resurrection. 47 And it is He who sendeth forth the winds as a herald before His mercy and We send down from the heaven water pure. 48 That We may bring to life thereby a dead land and give it as drink to those We created of numerous livestock and men. 49 And certainly We have repeated this to them that they may be mindful, but the greater number of men do not consent to aught except denying. 50 Had it been Our Will, We could have sent a warner to every centre of population. 51 hence, do not defer to [the likes and dislikes of] those who deny the truth, but strive hard against them, by means of this [divine writ,] with utmost striving. 52 ۞ And it is He who let forth the two seas, this one Sweet, grateful to taste, and this salt, bitter to the tongue, and He set between them a barrier, and a ban forbidden. 53 And He it is Who has created man from the water, then He has made for him blood relationship and marriage relationship, and your Lord is powerful. 54 Yet they worship instead of Allah that which can neither benefit them nor hurt them. The disbeliever was ever a partisan against his Lord. 55 Yet We have not sent you but to give good tidings and to warn. 56 Say: "No reward do I ask of you for this (that which I have brought from my Lord and its preaching, etc.), save that whosoever wills, may take a Path to his Lord. 57 And put your trust (O Muhammad SAW) in the Ever Living One Who dies not, and glorify His Praises, and Sufficient is He as the All-Knower of the sins of His slaves; 58 He created the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them in six spans then assumed His authority. He is the benevolent: Ask those who are well-informed. 59 And when it is said unto them: prostrate yourselves unto the Compassionate, they say: and what is the Compassionate? Shall we prostrate ourselves unto that which thou commandest us? And it increaseth in them aversion. ۩ 60
