And when thy Lord called to Moses, 'Go to the people of the evildoers, 10 the people of Pharaoh; will they not be godfearing?' 11 He said: O my Lord! surely I fear that they will reject me; 12 and my chest will become constricted and my tongue will not be loosed (in my speech), therefore, send to Aaron. 13 They also have a sin against me, and I fear they will slay me.' 14 He said: by no means. So go ye twain with Our signs; verily We shall be with you listening. 15 They came to the Pharaoh and said, "We are the Messengers of the Lord of the Universe. 16 so send forth with us the Children of Israel." 17 Pharaoh said to Moses, "Did we not bring you up among us as a child? And you spent several years of your life with us. 18 "And you did your deed, which you did (i.e. the crime of killing a man). And you are one of the ingrates." 19 He said: I did it then when I was mistaken. 20 So I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and prophethood and appointed me [as one] of the messengers. 21 Is this then the blessing with which you reproach me, that you have the Children of Israel for worshipers' 22 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "And what is the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)?" 23 (Moses) said: "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, if you can believe." 24 Said [Pharaoh] unto those around him: "Did you hear [what he said]?" 25 Moses said: "(He is) Your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers of yore." 26 Said he, 'Surely your Messenger who was sent to you is possessed!' 27 He said: Lord of the east and the west and whatsoever is in-between, if ye understand. 28 Pharaoh said, "If you put forward any god other than me, I will surely put you in prison". 29 (Moses) said: "Even if I showed you something clear (and) convincing?" 30 (The Pharaoh) said: "Then bring it, if you speak the truth." 31 So Moses threw down his staff and suddenly it appeared as a serpent, plainly visible. 32 And he drew forth his hand, and lo! it appeared white to the onlookers. 33
