The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
