When your Lord called out to Moses, saying, "Go to the wrongdoing people, 10 The people of Fir'awn; fear they Me not? 11 Moses replied, "My Lord, I fear they will reject me, 12 and my chest will become constricted and my tongue will not be loosed (in my speech), therefore, send to Aaron. 13 And they have upon me a [claim due to] sin, so I fear that they will kill me." 14 Said He: "Not so, indeed! Go forth, then, both of you, with Our messages: verily, We shall be with you, listening [to your call]! 15 So go you to Pharaoh, and say, "Verily, I am the Messenger of the Lord of all Being; 16 let the Children of Israel go with us!'" 17 Said Firaun, “Did we do not raise you amongst us, as a child? And you spent many years of your life among us!” 18 Yet you committed the deed you did, surely you are one of the ingrates." 19 Said Moosa, “I did that at a time when I was unaware of the consequences.” (In anger – See verse 28:15) 20 Then I fled for fear of you. Then my Lord bestowed wisdom and authority on me and made me one of the Messengers. 21 That is a blessing thou reproachest me with, having enslaved the Children of Israel.' 22 The Pharaoh asked, "Who is the Lord of the Universe?" 23 He said: The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you would be sure. 24 (The Pharaoh) said to those around him: "Do you hear?" 25 Moses continued, "He is the Lord and the Lord of your forefathers." 26 [Pharaoh] said, "Indeed, your 'messenger' who has been sent to you is mad." 27 He said: The Lord of the east and the west and what is between them, if you understand. 28 Pharaoh said, "If you put forward any god other than me, I will surely put you in prison". 29 He said: even though I bring unto thee something manifest? 30 Pharaoh said: "Then bring it if you are truthful at all." 31 So (Moses) threw his rod, and behold, it was a serpent, plain (for all to see)! 32 And he drew out his hand, and it appeared [shining] white to the beholders. 33
