And when thy Lord called to Moses, 'Go to the people of the evildoers, 10 the people of Pharaoh: do they have no fear?" 11 He said: O my Lord! surely I fear that they will reject me; 12 and then my breast will be straitened and my tongue will not be free: send, then, [this Thy command] to Aaron. 13 And they have a charge (of murder) against me. So I fear that they will kill me." 14 Allah said: "Nay! Go you both with Our Signs. Verily! We shall be with you, listening. 15 Then come to Firon and say: Surely we are the apostles of the Lord of the worlds: 16 "So allow the Children of Israel to go with us.' " 17 [Pharaoh] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life? 18 You spent many years of your life among us and then you committed that deed of yours. You are very ungrateful indeed." 19 Moses replied: "I committed that act erringly. 20 I fled from you because I feared you. But my Lord has given me judgment and made me one of the Messengers. 21 And that favour wherewith thou didst oblige me was that thou hadst enslaved the Children of Isra'il? 22 Firon said: And what is the Lord of the worlds? 23 [Moses] answered: "[He is] the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them: if you would but [allow yourselves to] be convinced!" 24 [Pharaoh] said to those around him, "Do you not hear?" 25 Musa (Moses) said: "Your Lord and the Lord of your ancient fathers!" 26 Pharaoh said to the audience: "This Messenger of yours who has been sent to you is simply mad." 27 [But Moses] went on: "[He of whom I speak is] the Sustainer of the east and the west and of all that is between the two - as you would know]" if you would but use your reason!" 28 Pharaoh said, "If you take any deity other than myself, I will throw you into prison," 29 [Moses] said, "Even if I brought you proof manifest?" 30 Pharaoh said: "Then bring it if you are truthful at all." 31 (No sooner had he said this than) Moses threw down his rod and behold, it was a veritable serpent, 32 And he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white to all beholders! 33
