And [mention] when your Lord called Moses, [saying], "Go to the wrongdoing people - 10 the people of Pharaoh, will they not fear God? 11 He said: "O my Lord! I do fear that they will charge me with falsehood: 12 "And my breast straitens, and my tongue expresses not well. So send for Harun (Aaron) (to come along with me). 13 They have charged me [with a crime] for which I am afraid they will kill me." 14 Allah said: "Nay! Go you both with Our Signs. Verily! We shall be with you, listening. 15 Go to Pharaoh, both of you, and say, 'We are messengers from the Lord of the Worlds: 16 that you let the Children of Israel go with us.'" 17 He said, 'Did we not raise thee amongst us as a child? Didst thou not tarry among us years of thy life? 18 And you did (that) deed of yours which you did, and you are one of the ungrateful. 19 He said: I did it then, when I was of those who are astray. 20 Then I fled from you when I feared you, and my Lord bestowed on me wisdom and made me one of the sent ones. 21 And that favour wherewith thou didst oblige me was that thou hadst enslaved the Children of Isra'il? 22 Fir'awn said: and what is the Lord of the worlds? 23 [Moses] answered: "[He is] the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them: if you would but [allow yourselves to] be convinced!" 24 The Pharaoh said to the people around him, "Did you hear that?" 25 Moses went on, "He is your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers." 26 (The Pharaoh) said (to his nobles): "Your apostle who has been sent to you, is certainly mad." 27 (Moses) said: "The Lord of the East and the Lord of the West and all that lies between them, if you have sense." 28 Said he, 'If thou takest a god other than me, I shall surely make thee one of the imprisoned.' 29 (Moses) said: "Even if I showed you something clear (and) convincing?" 30 Said he: Bring it then, if you are of the truthful ones. 31 So (Moses) cast his staff, and lo, it turned into a living serpent. 32 And he drew out his hand, and it appeared [shining] white to the beholders. 33
