HENCE, [remember how it was] when thy Sustainer summoned Moses: "Go unto those evil doing people. 10 The people of Firon: Will they not guard (against evil)? 11 Moses replied, "My Lord, I fear they will reject me, 12 and then my breast will be straitened and my tongue will not be free: send, then, [this Thy command] to Aaron. 13 And they have upon me a [claim due to] sin, so I fear that they will kill me." 14 He said: by no means. So go ye twain with Our signs; verily We shall be with you listening. 15 Go to Pharaoh and say, 'We are the messengers of the Lord of the worlds, 16 "So allow the Children of Israel to go with us.' " 17 Said Firaun, “Did we do not raise you amongst us, as a child? And you spent many years of your life among us!” 18 And you commited what you did, and you are ungrateful!" 19 Said Moosa, “I did that at a time when I was unaware of the consequences.” (In anger – See verse 28:15) 20 "So I fled from you (all) when I feared you; but my Lord has (since) invested me with judgment (and wisdom) and appointed me as one of the messengers. 21 That is a blessing thou reproachest me with, having enslaved the Children of Israel.' 22 Pharaoh said, "What is this: Lord of the Universe?" 23 He said: The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you would be sure. 24 The Pharaoh said to the people around him, "Did you hear that?" 25 [Moses] said, "Your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers." 26 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "Verily, your Messenger who has been sent to you is a madman!" 27 (Moses) said: "Lord of the East and the West, and all between! if ye only had sense!" 28 Said he, 'If thou takest a god other than me, I shall surely make thee one of the imprisoned.' 29 Said Moosa, “Even if I bring to you something clear?” 30 The Pharaoh replied, "Bring it, if you are telling the truth." 31 Moses threw his staff and suddenly it became a serpent. 32 And he drew forth his hand, and lo, it looked white to the beholders. 33
