And when thy Lord called Moses, saying: Go unto the wrongdoing folk, 10 The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allah?" 11 'My Lord' he replied, 'I fear they will belie me 12 “I feel hesitant, and my tongue does not speak fast, therefore make Haroon also a Noble Messenger.” 13 "And (further), they have a charge of crime against me; and I fear they may slay me." 14 He said: 'Never so, go both of you with Our signs; We shall be with you, listening 15 And go, both of you, unto Pharaoh and say, 'Behold, we bear a message from the Sustainer of all the worlds: 16 Send forth with us the Children of Israel' 17 (Pharaoh) said: "Did we not cherish thee as a child among us, and didst thou not stay in our midst many years of thy life? 18 Yet you were ungrateful and have done the deed you did' 19 He (Moses) replied: 'Indeed, I did that when I was among those who stray. 20 so I fled from you, fearing you. But my Lord gave me Judgment and made me one of the Envoys. 21 Now this is the favour that you tauntingly remind me of: that you enslaved the Children of Israel!" 22 Said Pharaoh, "And what is the Lord of the worlds?" 23 (Moses) said: "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, if you can believe." 24 (Pharaoh) said to those around: "Did ye not listen (to what he says)?" 25 (Moses continued): "Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers before you." 26 The Pharaoh said, "The Messenger who has been sent to you is certainly insane". 27 [But Moses] went on: "[He of whom I speak is] the Sustainer of the east and the west and of all that is between the two - as you would know]" if you would but use your reason!" 28 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "If you choose an ilah (god) other than me, I will certainly put you among the prisoners." 29 He said, 'What, even though I brought thee something so manifest?' 30 Said he: Bring it then, if you are of the truthful ones. 31 So [Moses] threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent manifest. 32 And he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white to all beholders! 33
