He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 to a rich man, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 and in awe of God 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and olives and palms, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 but others will be gloomy 40 with darkness overspread: 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
Almighty Allah's Truth.
