(Pharaoh) said to the Chiefs around him: "This is indeed a sorcerer well-versed: 34 "His plan is to get you out of your land by his sorcery; then what is it ye counsel?" 35 They said, "Let him and his brother wait a while, and send heralds into the cities, 36 "And bring up to thee all (our) sorcerers well-versed." 37 So the magicians were brought together on a particular day at a set time 38 And the people were told: "Are ye (now) assembled?- 39 (They said): "We may haply follow the magicians if they are victorious." 40 Then when the magicians came, they said unto Fir'awn: will there surely be a big hire for us if we are the winners? 41 He replied, "Certainly, in that case you will join my inner circle." 42 Moses said unto them: Throw what ye are going to throw! 43 So they cast down their ropes and staffs saying, "By the honor of the Pharaoh we shall certainly become the winners". 44 Thereafter, Moses threw down his rod and behold, it went about swallowing up all the false devices they had contrived. 45 And down fell the sorcerers, prostrating themselves in adoration, 46 They said, "We have believed in the Lord of the worlds, 47 The Lord of Moses and Aaron." 48 Said [Pharaoh]: "Have you come to believe in him ere I have given you permission? Verily, he must be your master who has taught you magic! But in time you shall come to know [my revenge]: most certainly shall I cut off your hands and your feet in great numbers, because of [your] perverseness, and shall most certainly crucify you in great numbers, all together!" 49 They said, “No harm (in it), we will return to our Lord.” 50 Lo! we ardently hope that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we are the first of the believers. 51
