Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 Nor a true friend; 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
