And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 Abraham asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
