And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them." 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 (Abraham) said, "Do you know that what you worship 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; 80 "And He will give me death, then resurrect me." 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those whom you used to worship?" 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And all the armies of Satan. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 "By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error." 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 nor a loving friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
