And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 Now we have no intercessors 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 Verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 104
