And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 "Now [as for me, I know that,] verily, these [false deities] are my enemies, [and that none is my helper] save the Sustainer of all the worlds, 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 Do not betray me 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
