Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The indubitable event! 1 And what is that indubitable event? 2 And what do you know what that indubitable event is? 3 Thamood and Ad cried lies to the Clatterer. 4 The Thamuds were destroyed by a violent blast of sound. 5 And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind; 6 which God let loose against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you could have seen its people lying prostrate as though they were the hollow trunks of palm-trees which had fallen down. 7 Can you see any remnant of them now? 8 And Pharaoh and those before him, and the communities that were destroyed, brought error, 9 They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 as a lesson for you, but only attentive ears will retain it. 12 So when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for on that Day it will be so frail. 16 And the angels will be on the sides thereof, and eight will uphold the Throne of thy Lord that day, above them. 17 On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. 18 So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! 19 Surely I knew that I shall meet my account. 20 Then he will be in blissful state 21 In a Garden lofty. 22 the clusters of whose fruit will be hanging low to be within reach (of the inmates of Paradise). 23 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past." 24 But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record 25 and had not known my account. 26 How I wish my death had ended all. 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 my authority is gone from me.' 29 [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. 30 Then in the Scorch roast him 31 Fasten a chain to them - seventy cubits long - 32 Indeed, he did not use to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. 34 so today he has no friend here, 35 Nor any food except refuse, 36 that none but sinners eat' 37
