And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 Said [Abraham]: "Have you, then, ever considered what it is that you have been worshipping 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 Verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 104
