Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; 80 And He Who shall cause me to die, and then shall quicken me. 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 "And none misled us but the guilty." 99 We have no one to intercede for us before God 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
