And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 no loyal friend. 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
