And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 Said [Abraham]: "Have you, then, ever considered what it is that you have been worshipping 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 and place me among those who shall inherit the garden of bliss! 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
