And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He asked them, "Can the idols hear you when you pray to them 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 They will say while they dispute therein, 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
