And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 You and your fathers? 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 nor do we have a truly sincere friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
