And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 They will say while they dispute therein, 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 and no sincere friend. 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 Verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 104
