And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 Verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 104
