The 'Ad (people) rejected the messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 124 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 125 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 126 For this I ask of you no wage, for my wage falls only on the Lord of the Worlds. 127 "Will you, in your wanton folly, build [idolatrous] altars on every height, 128 And seek ye out strongholds, that haply ye may last for ever? 129 And will you [always,] whenever you lay hand [on others,] lay hand [on them] cruelly, without any restraint? 130 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 131 and fear Him who has succoured you with what you know, 132 “He aided you with cattle and sons.” 133 gardens and fountains. 134 for, verily, I fear lest suffering befall you on an awesome day!" 135 They said, 'Alike it is to us, whether thou admonishest, or art not one of the admonishers; 136 This is but a fable of the men of old, 137 And we are not going to be punished. 138 Eventually they gave the lie to him and We destroyed them. Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 139 Verily your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 140
