Ad gave the lie to the apostles. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: "Will you not take heed? 124 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust: 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists). 127 “What! You build a structure on every height, to laugh at the passers-by?” 128 and make for yourselves mighty castles, [hoping] that you might become immortal? 129 When you assault, you assault like tyrants. 130 Have fear of God and obey me. 131 Have fear of Him Who has provided you with all the (good) things you know; 132 He has given you cattle, children, 133 gardens, and springs. 134 Verily I fear for you the torment of a Mighty Day. 135 They replied, "It makes no difference to us whether you preach or do not preach, 136 This is naught but a custom of the ancients; 137 “And we will not be punished.” 138 And they belied him; so We destroyed them. Verily herein is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
