The 'Ad (people) rejected the messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 124 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 125 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 126 I ask no recompense of you for it. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 127 Do you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves, 128 and do you take to you castles, haply to dwell forever? 129 And when ye seize, ye seize like unto tyrants. 130 "Now fear Allah, and obey me. 131 And fear Him Who hath aided you with that which ye know. 132 He has given you abundance of cattle and children 133 gardens, and springs. 134 for, verily, I fear lest suffering befall you on an awesome day!" 135 They said, "Whether you preach to us or not, 136 This is but a fable of the men of old, 137 and we are not going to be chastised [for adhering to it]!" 138 So they cried him lies; then We destroyed them. Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 140
