The 'Aad belied the sent ones. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 124 I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 127 "Will you, in your wanton folly, build [idolatrous] altars on every height, 128 And take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally? 129 And will you [always,] whenever you lay hand [on others,] lay hand [on them] cruelly, without any restraint? 130 So fear Allah and obey me. 131 And fear He who provided you with that which you know, 132 "He has aided you with cattle and children. 133 and gardens, and springs -- 134 “Indeed I fear upon you the punishment of a Great Day.” 135 They said: It is all one to us whether thou preachest or art not of those who preach; 136 This is but a fable of the men of old, 137 We will not be subjected to any chastisement." 138 So they belied him, so We destroyed them. Surely, in that there is a sign; yet most of them do not believe. 139 Yet surely your Lord is mighty and merciful. 140
