We created mankind from clay, molded from mud, 26 And the jinn did We create aforetime of essential fire. 27 And when thy Lord said to the angels, 'See, I am creating a mortal of a clay of mud moulded. 28 and when I have formed him fully and breathed into him of My spirit, fall down before him in prostration! 29 Then the angels bowed themselves all together, 30 Except Iblis (Satan), - he refused to be among the prostrators. 31 Said Allah, “O Iblis! What happened to you that you stayed apart from those who prostrated?” 32 (Iblis) said: "I am not one to prostrate myself to man, whom Thou didst create from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape." 33 (Allah) said: "Then get thee out from here; for thou art rejected, accursed. 34 and will be subjected to condemnation until the Day of Judgment." 35 He said, "My Lord, then reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected." 36 He said: So surely you are of the respited ones 37 for an appointed time." 38 He said, “My Lord! I swear by the fact that You sent me astray, I shall distract them in the earth, and I shall lead all of them astray.” 39 Save such of them as are Thy perfectly devoted slaves. 40 He (Allah) said: 'This is for Me the Right Path 41 "For over My servants no authority shalt thou have, except such as put themselves in the wrong and follow thee." 42 And surely Hell is the promised place of them all: 43 It has seven gates, and through each gate a portion of them belong. 44
