The Thamud accused the messengers of lies. 141 Recall when their brother Salih said to them: "Have you no fear?" 142 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 143 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 144 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 145 “Will you be left peacefully in these favours over here?” 146 “In gardens and water springs?” 147 and cornfields and date-palms laden with juicy fruits? 148 "And ye carve houses out of (rocky) mountains with great skill. 149 Fear Allah and obey me 150 And do not obey the order of the transgressors, 151 "Who make mischief in the land, and mend not (their ways)." 152 They said, 'Thou art merely one of those that are bewitched; 153 You are naught but a mortal like ourselves; so bring a sign if you are one of the truthful. 154 Salih said: "This is a she-camel. There is a day set for her to drink and there is a day set for you to drink. 155 "Touch her not with harm, lest the Penalty of a Great Day seize you." 156 But they hamstrung her; and on the morrow were repentant, 157 and torment struck them. In this there is evidence of the Truth, yet many people do not have any faith. 158 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 159
