Then the people of Lot rejected the messengers. 160 when their brother Lot said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 161 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 162 so fear God and obey me. 163 I seek of you no reward. My reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 164 "Go you in unto the males of the 'Alamin (mankind), 165 leaving aside those whom Allah has created for you as your mates. Nay, you are a people that has transgressed all limits." 166 They said: "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will be expelled (from the city)." 167 (Lot) said: "I am disgusted with your actions," 168 My Lord, deliver me and my family from their wicked deeds." 169 Thereupon We saved him and all his household 170 Except an old woman, among those who remained behind. 171 Then We destroyed the rest of them, 172 We rained upon them a rain, and evil is the rain (of stones) on those that are warned. 173 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 174 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might Most Merciful. 175
