The people of Lot accused the messengers of lies. 160 When their fellowman Lut said to them, “Do you not fear?” 161 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 162 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 163 I ask of you no recompense for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 164 What! do you come to the males from among the creatures 165 And leave what your Lord has created for you of your wives? Nay, you are a people exceeding limits. 166 'Lot' they replied, 'if you do not desist, you shall be thrown out' 167 (Lot) said: "I am disgusted with your actions," 168 "O my Lord! deliver me and my family from such things as they do!" 169 So We saved him and his whole family 170 Except an old woman, among those who remained behind. 171 Then afterward We destroyed the others. 172 and We poured a rain [of destruction] down upon them -- and how evil was the rain which fell on those who were forewarned. 173 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 174 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
