The people of Lot accused the messengers of lies. 160 When their fellowman Lut said to them, “Do you not fear?” 161 I am for you an honest Messenger. 162 so fear you God, and obey you me. 163 I ask no recompense of you for this. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 164 Go ye in, of all creatures, unto the males? 165 And leave what your Lord has created for you of your wives? Nay, you are a people exceeding limits. 166 They said: "If thou desist not, O Lut! thou wilt assuredly be cast out!" 167 He said: "I do detest your doings." 168 "My Lord! Save me and my family from what they do." 169 Thereupon We saved him and all his household 170 except for an old woman who stayed behind, 171 But the rest We destroyed utterly. 172 and rained down upon them a rain [of destruction]: and dire is such rain upon all who let themselves be warned [to no avail]! 173 Surely in this there is a sign: but most of them would not believe: 174 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 175
