Then the people of Lot rejected the messengers. 160 When their fellowman Lut said to them, “Do you not fear?” 161 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 162 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 163 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 164 What! Of all creatures do ye come unto the males, 165 leaving aside those whom Allah has created for you as your mates. Nay, you are a people that has transgressed all limits." 166 They said: If thou cease not, O Lot, thou wilt soon be of the outcast. 167 [Lot] exclaimed: "Behold, I am one of those who utterly abhor your doings!" 168 [And then he prayed:] "O my Sustainer! Save me and my household from all that they are doing!" 169 So We saved him and all his people, 170 Except an old woman who lingered behind. 171 Thereafter, We utterly destroyed the rest, 172 And We rained down upon them a rain, and evil was the rain on those warned. 173 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 174 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 175
