(In the days of old), Noah cried to Us, and We are the best to hear prayer. 75 And We delivered him and his people from the great distress, 76 And We made his offspring the survivors. 77 And left for him [favorable mention] among later generations: 78 Salamun (peace) be upon Nuh (Noah) (from Us) among the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)!" 79 Verily We! thus We recompense the well-doers. 80 Verily he was of Our bondmen believing. 81 Afterwards We drowned the others. 82 ۞ Abraham was one of his followers. 83 When he came to his Lord, with a sound heart. (Free from falsehood). 84 [And] when he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship? 85 Is it false deities that you want to serve rather than Allah? 86 "Then what do you think about the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists)?" 87 Then he looked at the stars, looking up once, 88 and said, "I am sick!" 89 But they turned their backs on him and went away. 90 Then he went quietly to the (temple of the deities) and said: “What is the matter with you, why do you not eat? 91 What ails you, that you speak not?' 92 And he turned upon them smiting them with his right hand. 93 Then the people came toward him, hastening. 94 He said: worship ye that which ye carve. 95 when it is Allah who created you and all that you do' 96 They said, “Construct a building (furnace) for him, and then cast him in the blazing fire!” 97 So they tried to execute their evil scheme upon him – We therefore degraded them. (Allah saved him, by commanding the fire to turn cool). 98 He said, "I will go to my Lord: He is sure to guide me. 99 (And he prayed:) "O Lord, grant me a righteous son." 100 We gave him the glad news of the birth of a forbearing son. 101 Then, when (the son) reached (the age of) (serious) work with him, he said: "O my son! I see in vision that I offer thee in sacrifice: Now see what is thy view!" (The son) said: "O my father! Do as thou art commanded: thou will find me, if Allah so wills one practising Patience and Constancy!" 102 So when they both submitted and he threw him down upon his forehead, 103 We called out to him "O Abraham! 104 you have confirmed your vision' As such We recompense the gooddoers. 105 That was indeed a clear trial. 106 So, We ransomed him with a mighty sacrifice, 107 And We left (this blessing) for him among generations (to come) in later times: 108 Peace be unto Ibrahim: 109 As such We recompense the gooddoers. 110 Lo! he is one of Our believing slaves. 111 And we gave him tidings of the birth of Isaac, a prophet of the righteous. 112 And We blessed him, and Isaac; and of their seed some are good-doers, and some manifest self-wrongers. 113
