The Companions of the Wood rejected the messengers. 176 Recall, when Shuayb said to them: "Have you no fear? 177 I am for you a faithful Messenger, so fear you God, and obey you me. 178 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 179 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 180 ۞ Fill up the measure, and be not cheaters, 181 And weigh with an even balance. 182 And defraud not people of their things, and commit not corruption on the earth. 183 and have fear of Him Who created you and the earlier generations." 184 They said, "You are only of those affected by magic. 185 You are nothing but a man like us, and we think you are a liar. 186 Then drop down on us lumps from heaven, if thou art one of the truthful.' 187 He said: "My Lord knows best what ye do." 188 They rejected him, and then had to suffer the punishment of a day of overshadowing gloom. That was indeed the punishment of an awful day. 189 Lo! herein is indeed a portent; yet most of them are not believers. 190 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 191
