Truly, it is the sending of the Lord of the Worlds. 192 The Trusted Spirit hath brought it down. 193 upon your heart (Prophet Muhammad), in order to be one of the warners, 194 in the clear Arabic tongue. 195 Without doubt it is (announced) in the mystic Books of former peoples. 196 Was it not a sign for them, that it is known to the learned of the Children of Israel? 197 But [even] had We bestowed it from on high upon any of the non-Arabs, 198 And he had recited it to them [perfectly], they would [still] not have been believers in it. 199 Even so We have caused it to enter into the hearts of the sinners, 200 they shall not believe in it until they see the painful punishment 201 It will come upon them suddenly when they are not expecting it. 202 They will say, "Can we be granted any respite?" 203 So do they wish to hasten Our punishment? 204 Tell Me, if We do let them enjoy for years, 205 and then what they were promised comes to them, 206 What shall that which they enjoyed avail them? 207 We never destroyed a village that did not have warners 208 For reminder, for We never were oppressors. 209 Not by the Satans has it been brought down; 210 They are not worthy of it, nor have they power. 211 Indeed they are debarred from even hearing it. 212 So do not call on any deity besides God, lest you incur His punishment. 213 and warn your nearest kinsmen; 214 And lower your wing to those who follow you of the believers. 215 If they do not obey you, tell them: "I am not responsible for what you do." 216 Put your trust in the Almighty, the Most Merciful, 217 Who seeth thee when thou standest up 218 And thy movements among those who prostrate themselves, 219 Lo! He, only He, is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Should I tell you on whom the devils descend? 221 They descend upon all sinful self-deceivers 222 The devils convey upon them what they heard, but most of them are liars. 223 As for the poets, the erring follow them, 224 Seest thou not that they wander distracted in every valley?- 225 and how they say that which they do not? 226 [Most of them are of this kind] save those who have attained to faith, and do righteous deeds, and remember God unceasingly, and defend themselves [only] after having been wronged, and [trust in God's promise that] those who are bent on wrongdoing will in time come to know how evil a turn their destinies are bound to take! 227
