This surely is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe: 192 which the truthful spirit has carried down 193 into your heart, so that you may be a warner, 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 And indeed, it is [mentioned] in the scriptures of former peoples. 196 Is it not a Sign to them that the Learned of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)? 197 Had We revealed it to a non-Arab 198 So that he should have recited it to them, they would not have believed therein. 199 Thus do We make it traverse the hearts of the guilty. 200 They will not believe it until they behold the painful punishment. 201 so that it will come upon them suddenly, while they are not aware, 202 they say: "Can we be granted some respite?" 203 Would they (now) hasten on Our doom? 204 Hast thou then seen, if We content them for (long) years, 205 And then there came to them that which they were promised? 206 of what avail would their past enjoyment be to them? 207 And withal, never have We destroyed any community unless it had been warned 208 as a reminder from Us: We are never unjust. 209 And [this divine writ is such a reminder:] no evil spirits have brought it down: 210 It would neither suit them nor would they be able (to produce it). 211 Verily, they have been removed far from hearing it. 212 So do not call on any deity besides God, lest you incur His punishment. 213 And warn thou thy clan, the nearest ones. 214 And spread your wing of mercy for the believers following you. 215 Then if they disobey thee, say: "I am free (of responsibility) for what ye do!" 216 And rely on the Mighty, the Merciful, 217 Who watches you when you get up, 218 And your movement among those who prostrate. 219 Indeed only He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They descend upon every calumniator, sinner. 222 on those who whisper hearsay in the ears of people; and most of them are liars. 223 Poets are followed by the perverse. 224 Have you not seen how they wander in every valley, 225 and preaching what they themselves never practice. 226 Except those who believe and do good and remember Allah much, and defend themselves after they are oppressed; and they who act unjustly shall know to what final place of turning they shall turn back. 227
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
