This surely is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe: 192 With it came down the spirit of Faith and Truth- 193 Upon thy heart, that thou mayst be (one) of the warners, 194 (a revelation) in clear Arabic language, 195 And lo! it is in the Scriptures of the men of old. 196 Is it not a Sign to them - (to wit, the Makkans) - that the learned men of the Children of Israel know that? 197 And even if We had revealed it to one among the foreigners 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Even so We have caused it to enter into the hearts of the sinners, 200 who will not believe in it, until they see the painful chastisement 201 But the (Penalty) will come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not; 202 Then they will say: Are we to be reprieved? 203 Do they really want Our chastisement to be expedited? 204 Hast thou then seen, if We content them for (long) years, 205 and thereupon that [chastisement] which they were promised befalls them 206 of what avail to them will be all their past enjoyments? 207 And We destroyed no township but it had its warners 208 as a reminder from Us: We are never unjust. 209 It was not the devils who brought down the Quran: 210 for, neither does it suit their ends, nor is it in their power [to impart it to man]: 211 The satans are barred from listening to anything from the heavens. 212 So call not on any other god with Allah, or thou wilt be among those under the Penalty. 213 And warn, [O Muhammad], your closest kindred. 214 And lower thy wing (in kindness) unto those believers who follow thee. 215 Then if they disobey you say to them: "I am quit of what you do." 216 Put your trust in the Mighty One, the Merciful, 217 who sees you when you stand 218 And (seeth) thine abasement among those who fall prostrate (in worship). 219 Verily! He, only He, is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom do the devils descend? 221 They descend on every forgerer steeped in sin, 222 Who give ear, and most of them are liars. 223 And the astray follow the poets. 224 Do you not see that in every valley they roam 225 and say things which they do not act upon, 226 Except those [poets] who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allah often and defend [the Muslims] after they were wronged. And those who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned. 227
