The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ ALIF LAM MIM. 1 Do men imagine that they will be left (at ease) because they say, We believe, and will not be tested with affliction? 2 We tried those who have gone before them. Allah knows those who are truthful and those who lie. 3 Or do the evildoers think that they will outstrip Us? How evil is their judgment! 4 Let those who have the desire to be in the presence of God on the Day of Judgment know that their day will certainly be coming. God is All-Hearing and All-Knowing. 5 And whoever strives in Allah's cause, strives only for his own benefit; indeed Allah is Independent of the entire creation. 6 As for those who believe and do good works, We shall acquit them of their sins, and recompense them with the best for what they were doing. 7 And We have enjoined on man goodness to his parents, and if they contend with you that you should associate (others) with Me, of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them, to Me is your return, so I will inform you of what you did. 8 As for those who believed and acted righteously, We shall certainly admit them among the righteous. 9 Of mankind are some who say: we believe in Allah; then if they are afflicted in the way of Allah, they take the persecution of men even as the torment of Allah; and then, if succour cometh from thy Lord they say: verily we have been with you. Is not Allah the Best Knower of that which is in the breasts of the creatures? 10 And indeed Allah will make known the believers, and indeed He will expose the hypocrites. 11 Those who deny say to those who affirm: "Follow our way; we shall carry the burden of your sins." But they cannot carry the burden of their sins in the least. They are liars indeed. 12 Besides the other burdens that they will have to carry, they will certainly be loaded with the burden of their own sins. They will be questioned on the Day of Judgment about what they had falsely invented. 13
