The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 The Byzantians have been overcome. 2 in a nearby land. They will reverse their defeat with a victory 3 Within three to nine years. To Allah belongs the command before and after. And that day the believers will rejoice 4 in God's help; God helps whomsoever He will; and He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 5 The promise of God! God fails not His promise, but most men do not know it. 6 They know only some appearance of the life of the world, and are heedless of the Hereafter. 7 Have they not inwardly pondered – that Allah has not created the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, except with truth and a fixed term? And indeed many people deny the meeting with their Lord. 8 Do they not travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those before them? They were superior to them in strength: they tilled the soil and populated it in greater numbers than these have done: there came to them their messengers with Clear (Signs). (Which they rejected, to their own destruction): It was not Allah Who wronged them, but they wronged their own souls. 9 Then evil was the end of those who did evil, because they rejected the communications of Allah and used to mock them. 10
