Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 These are the verses of the sagacious Book, 2 a guidance and a mercy to those who do good, 3 who perform the prayer, and pay the alms, and have sure faith in the Hereafter. 4 Such have guidance from their Lord. Such are the successful. 5 But among men there is many a one that prefers a mere play with words [to divine guidance,] so as to lead [those] without knowledge astray from the path of God, and to turn it to ridicule: for such there is shameful suffering in store. 6 And when Our revelations are recited unto him he turneth away in pride as if he heard them not, as if there were a deafness in his ears. So give him tidings of a painful doom. 7 The righteously striving believers will enter Paradise 8 In which they will abide; it is a true promise of Allah; and only He is the Almighty, the Wise. 9 He created the heavens without any supports visible to you, and cast mountains as anchors into the earth so that it may not shake with you, and spread all kinds of beasts in it; and We sent down water from the sky so thereby grew all kinds of refined pairs in it. 10 Such is the Creation of Allah: now show Me what is there that others besides Him have created: nay, but the Transgressors are in manifest error. 11
