Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Alif-Lam-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language – Allah, and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 These are verses of the Book of Wisdom 2 for a guidance and a mercy to the good-doers 3 Those who keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate and they are certain of the hereafter. 4 These are on (true) guidance from their Lord: and these are the ones who will prosper. 5 There are some people who would purchase distracting talk, to lead astray from the Path of Allah without knowledge, and take it in mockery; for those is a humiliating punishment. 6 And when Our communications are recited to him, he turns back proudly, as if he had not heard them, as though in his ears were a heaviness, therefore announce to him a painful chastisement. 7 [As against this,] verily, those who attain to faith and do righteous deeds shall have gardens of bliss, 8 therein to dwell forever -- God's promise in truth; and He is the All-mighty, the All-wise. 9 He has created the skies without any support that you could see, and has placed firm mountains upon the earth, lest it sway with you, and has caused all manner of living creatures to multiply thereon. And We sent down water from the skies, and thus We made every kind of excellent plant grow there: 10 this is God's creation. Show me then what those besides Him have created! The wrongdoers are in manifest error. 11
