The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
CONSIDER these [messages] ranged in serried ranks, 1 And those who restrain by reprimanding, 2 and those who recite the Remembrance 3 Indeed your God is surely only One. 4 The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, and Lord of the easts. 5 Indeed, We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment of stars 6 and have made them secure against every rebellious, satanic force, 7 (So) they should not strain their ears in the direction of the Exalted Assembly but be cast away from every side, 8 Outcast, and theirs is a constant (or painful) torment. 9 Except him who snatches off but once, then there follows him a brightly shining flame. 10 So ask them (that is, human beings): “Were they harder to create than the objects We created?” We created them from sticky clay. 11 Truly dost thou marvel, while they ridicule, 12 and, when reminded, do not remember 13 When they see a sign, they laugh at it, 14 and say: "This is clearly nothing but [a mortal's] spellbinding eloquence! 15 Why - after we have died and become mere dust and bones, shall we, forsooth, be raised from the dead? 16 "And also our fathers of old?" 17 You say: "Yes; and you will be lowly made." 18 for that [resurrection which they deride] will be [upon them of a sudden, as if it were] but a single accusing cry - and then, lo! they will begin to see [the truth] 19 and they say, 'Woe, alas for us! This is the Day of Doom.' 20 This is the Day of Judgment which ye were wont to belie. 21
