۞ Gather together those who were unjust and their associates, and what they used to worship 22 Other than Allah, and guide them to the path of Hellfire 23 and stop them there for questioning: 24 [They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?" 25 No, today they will resign themselves in submission, 26 And some of them shall advance towards others, questioning each other. 27 They shall say: Surely you used to come to us from the right side. 28 But they reply: 'Rather, you were not believers. 29 We had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk. 30 But now our Sustainer's word has come true against us [as well]: verily, we are bound to taste [the fruit of our sins]. 31 "So we led you astray because we were ourselves astray." 32 On that Day they will all share the punishment: 33 This is how We deal with the criminals. 34 Surely they used to behave proudly when it was said to them: There is no god but Allah; 35 and said, "Should we give up our idols for the sake of an insane poet". 36 Nay, but he brought the Truth, and he confirmed those sent (before him). 37 Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment, 38 And ye shall be required not except for that which ye have been doing; 39 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 40 [in the hereafter,] theirs shall be a sustenance which they will recognize 41 Fruits; and they will be honoured. 42 In gardens of delight, 43 Facing one another on thrones, 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 White, delicious for the drinkers. 46 There shall be no trouble in it, nor shall they be exhausted therewith. 47 And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes, 48 [as free of faults] as if they were hidden [ostrich] eggs. 49 And they will all turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 50 One of them will say: 'I had a companion 51 Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death). 52 ‘That when we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, that we will either be rewarded or punished?’ 53 He will say, "Would you [care to] look?" 54 Then he will look downwards, and will see him in the depths of Hell. 55 And he will say: by Allah, thou hadst wellnigh causedest me to perish. 56 But for the Favor of Allah I should have surely been among those who were arraigned (with you in Hell). 57 “So are we never to die?” (The people of Paradise will ask the angels, with delight, after the announcement of everlasting life.) 58 except our first death, and shall we not be punished' 59 Surely this is the supreme triumph. 60 For the like of it should the workers work. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of al-Zaqqum? 62 Verily, We have caused it to be a trial for evildoers: 63 Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire, 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 The dwellers of hell will eat that fruit and fill-up their bellies. 66 Then on top of that they will be given a mixture made of boiling water. 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 Verily, they found their fathers on the wrong path; 69 Yet they hasten to follow in their footsteps. 70 And indeed before them, most of the former people went astray. 71 And assuredly We sent among them warners. 72 Then see the nature of the consequence for those warned, 73 Except the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 74
